Turkey #11 - Antalya - the Turkish Beach Crowd (Photos Included!)

Turkey #11 - Antalya - the Turkish Beach Crowd (Photos now included)

So, after we left the luncheon with the local family we were on our way to Antalya.
This is a major beach city for Europeans. It is on the Mediterranean Sea so the water is warm but there is 6 miles of beach!
We stayed down the beach a little from the town center.  Some of us, (not me!) got up early and walked the beach. This was a perfect time of year to be here because the weather was nice and not too hot yet.

We went on a boat trip to see some waterfalls nearby.

As we neared the harbor, I noticed that all the boats looked like pirate ships! That was interesting!

I hadn't thought of the pirates that were on the Mediterranean Sea! The only pirates that I knew about, personally, were on the ride "Pirates of the Carribean" at Disneyland!

As you can see, the scenery is beautiful! We also went by Hydrai's Gate. I believe it was where Paul the Apostle spoke.
In Antalya they have the most interesting museum. I saw that people in ancient times here were buried in pots! I saw a video on YouTube that showed the same procedure done in some South American countries.

l wanted to share some of these elaborate coffins they had during Roman times.

Also, there were rooms of busts of ancient Gods. And a separate room with statutes of the Roman Emperors and rulers.

There was special attention paid to a statute where only a portion of it was found and pieced together then someone returned another portion of the statute so that it is more complete.

There were many coin displays in this museum.

They minted coins in this district. Some of the coins represented the ruler and some of the coins represented the district that they were printed in and used in.

I was so impressed with how well preserved things were and how old they are!
